They want my blood – Teye Nyaunu cries out

Michael Teye Nyaunu, MP for Lower Manya says he's received numerous death treats through text messages warning him to stop following Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.

The rhetoric of Michael Teye Nyaunu, Campaign Coordinator for Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has angered the wrath of some die-hard sympathizers of the ruling National Democratic Congress who have sworn heaven and earth to silence him before the party’s presidential primary in Sunyani.The blood of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya Krobo, Chronicle on Saturday learnt is being sought after by some aggrieved sympathizers of the party.

According to the NDC fire brand, he has received numerous text messages from people threatening to take his life if he continues following the wife of ex-president John Rawlings.

He was optimistic that the threats were from no other place than from his own party faithful who are not happy about his unflinching support for the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings as the latter seeks to unseat President Mills lead the party in the 2012 general election.

To buttress his claim, Mr. Nyaunu said some of the text messages accuse him of trying to destroy the NDC by following Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings.

“They use private numbers so it comes on your screen as private number, you can’t get the real number and when you try to call back, it cannot go through,” Joy News quoted his as saying.

He said if the text messages were just one or two, he would have boycotted it but since the text messages are many, he has no option than to take it serious and give it the needed attention.

“If you receive as many as six times, it is something that must be of concern,” he noted.

According to Joy News, the Nyaunu dismissed suggestion that he fabricated the death threats to court sympathy votes for the former first lady whose campaign is believed to be foundering.

“What will be the motivating factor? If at my level like this I should cook up something like this, what is going to benefit me? I’m not a boy, I’m a man,” he snapped.

Mr. Nyaunu, Chronicle on Saturday learnt, is yet to report the threats to the police.

Mr. Nyaunu ever since declaring his support for Nana Konadu has been touted as the controversial one in the circles of the NDC.
